FAQ

How do I contact you?

Call me at (865) 245-0911. If I’m in session, I will call you back within 24 hours.

How do teletherapy sessions work?
I use doxy.me. I send you a link, you click on it, and we should be connected. Using headphones or ear buds make our sessions more private. But the doxy.me platform is confidential and HIPAA-approved.
How do I pay?
I use a secure app called Ivy Pay. I will send you a text through Ivy Pay, you click the link, and follow the directions. This will charge your credit card. It’s that easy.
How do I use my insurance?

Call your insurance company and inquire how much they will reimburse you. I am an out-of-network provider. However, I can provide a superbill for your use in filing insurance claims for therapy. We will discuss this more during the free phone consultation.

Do you have a cancellation policy?
To avoid being charged for a full session, please provide a minimum of 24 hours’ notice.
I’m a teen – how do I know you aren’t going to tell my parents about our conversations?

I love this question. I am your secret keeper. You can tell me anything, and I won’t tell your parents unless you give me permission.

There are a couple of exceptions. If it is anything that causes you harm or others, then these are bad secrets. No one should keep a bad secret. I would help you have this conversation with your parents, so you won’t feel alone. I’m not always on your parent’s side either. Parents do not make sense to most teens. Therefore, I can interpret for you. I speak fluent teen and parent.

I know you take teens; what about preteens or kids?
There are a few exceptions for my willingness to take preteens or kids. Feel free to call me and ask.
Do you have a lot of people with my problem?
You are not alone in your problems. Most of my clients have very similar issues with similar, if not identical, symptoms. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
What is therapy like with you?
In one word: FUN. This is straight from my clients. Others have said that I’m enlightening. I’m what you need in that moment: your cheerleader, your friend, your support system, understanding, or a friendly ear.
Do you prescribe medication?

No, No, No!  Did I mention no? That is a job for a psychiatrist or a primary care provider (PCP).

Sometimes, therapy coupled with medication is the right combo to accomplish the freedom of the mind that you desire.

Would you understand movie or video game references?
Absolutely! However, I do have some limitations, but I can keep up with most of the references. I use movie analogies myself during therapy, especially superhero ones. Some of my favorite references are Star Wars, Dr. Who, Lord of the Rings, Marvel, DC, and many others.
Who is your favorite superhero?
Batman from DC and Captain Marvel from Marvel.
